PUBLICA ON ETHICS

Publication ethics of the journal «Scholarly Papers of Russian Gnesins Academy of Music» is based on the provisions of Russian copyright law as well as on the international ethical standards and rules for journals’ editors and authors of articles worked out by the Committee for Publication Ethics (COPE) and ethical regulations accepted by leading international publishers.
Following publication ethics’ rules is obligatory for all participants of the publication process – for editors, reviewers, editorial board members and authors of articles.

Authors’ responsibility
Authors are bound to follow regulations of scientific ethics, to provide scientific novelty, validity of information and professional level of its presentation.
On sending the article to the editing office authors guarantee that the article is not under review in any other journal and hasn’t been published before. Breaking of the above mentioned rule is the reason for complete withdrawal of the article and loss of the right for publishing it in the journal.
The author can forward to the Journal her article previously published in any other language. Such cases must be separately examined during editorial board’s meetings.
Authors are responsible for their articles’ content that is to carry only original scientific information, If some information is taken from other researchers it’s necessary to provide an exact reference to the source. If some persons have taken an active part in the research they are to be included into the list of co-authors.
All articles are being checked for the improper borrowings with the help of electronic system «Antiplagiat». Exact citation without referring to its source is prohibited, including graphic files and considerable rephrasing of other authors’ works.
If the author has found out any serious mistake in her article it’s necessary to immediately inform Editor-in-Chief and cooperate with her concerning corrections to be included into the publication. If Editor-in-Chief receives information from the third party about any serious mistake in an article already published, the author has to get to making corrections as soon as possible or bring confirmation of purity and correctness of previously presented information.

Publishers’ and editors’ responsibility
Editing Office of the Journal «Scholarly Papers of Russian Gnesins Academy of Music» accepts for publication previously unpublished articles being an original scientific research or detailed essay on scholarly topics corresponding to the Journal’s area of interests and to the group of scientific specialties 17.00.00 – Art Theory and History. If electronic system «Antiplagiat» finds any improper borrowings in an article presented, the author can meet the rejection of her article for being published.
Editors and members of editorial board are responsible for the decisions made about the articles presented for possible publication. An article can be confirmed for publication, recommended for revision considering the reviewers’ comments or rejected either because of formal (the quality of presentation) or scientific reasons.
The Journals’ editors have to provide the editing of an article and its preparation for publication considering the necessary quality of such work and its timing including control over citation process in the article. Final version of the article after the editor’s amendments is to be agreed upon by the author.
The Journal’s editors have no right to impose previously published articles of the Journal on other authors for citation in order to artificially increase scientometric indicators of «Scholarly Papers of Russian Gnesins Academy of Music».
The Journal’s editors and members of editorial board have no right to open information about any articles presented for publication, its authors and reviewers with the exception of the small group of people directly connected to the process of the articles’ preparation for publication.
The Journal’s editors and members of editorial board have to thoroughly look through the information carried by an article, but have no right to use this information in their own research without proper reference to the source before the article is published in due course.
Journal’s editors and members of editorial board have to stick to objectivity and honesty while an article’s examination and judge the material only according to its intellectual properties regardless of the author’s gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, social and civil opinions.

Reviewers’ responsibility
All articles submitted to the journal «Scholarly Papers of Russian Gnesins Academy of Music» and corresponding to its area of research are subject to mandatory independent peer review for expert evaluation. One side pattern of blind reviewing is being used by the Journal’s editorial board. The article’s author doesn’t know the reviewer’s name, but the reviewer does know the name of the author. The reviewer is informed about the manuscript being the author’s intellectual property and so belongs to information of non-disclosure type.
Reviewers have no right to open to any third parties the information on the articles to be reviewed.
The reviewers have to thoroughly look through the information carried by an article, but have no right to use this information in their own research without proper reference to the source before the article is published in due course. Reviewers have to examine the articles following the timing fixed by the Journal but not more than one month. If it’s not possible to finish the review process during this time the reviewer is to immediately inform the Editor-in-Chief about such impossibility.
The reviewer holds responsibility for the accordance of the articles recommended for publication to the Journal’s requirements and regulations. If any discussion occurs it is to be resolved by the Editor-in-Chief.
The reviewers have to stick to objectivity and honesty while an article’s examination and judge the material only according to its intellectual properties regardless of the author’s gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, social and civil opinions.
If there is conflict of interests between the reviewer and author the reviewer has to inform Editor-in-Chief about the fact and refuse to be the article’s reviewer.
